Myslovitz, a band from Mysłowice

At each European stage, a musical discovery ...

After Tocotronic in Austria over FM4, after the discovery of Zanzibar at Sziget Fesztival in Budapest, after Okean Elzi and its melancholy tunes in Ukraine, I have a new favorite band, this time in Poland. This is a band, I can hear regularly on Roxy FM. I did not know their name for a long time. But finally, I found it. It is Myslovitz.

Group founded in 1992, its 5 members are from the city of Mysłowice, hence their name. Mysłowice is a small industrial town on the outskirts of Katowice, about fifty kilometers from Krakow. The group leader is now involved in the organization of the outdoor summer festival, OFF-Festival.

Back to the band. Since 1992, they made several albums, about a dozen. Few of them seem to be quite well known abroad... They enjoyed a good promotion for MTV in the late 90's. In France, you can find their album in few shops. If you know this band, let me know! 
 
The discography is available on their website. No concert is scheduled before 2009. Indeed, band members take a break and each of them tries new experiences... 

But I stop the mumbo jumbo. Let's give you the opportunity to listen to them. For this, you will find 3 titles on video. 

The first title is W Deszczu Maleńkich Żółtych Kwiatów (translated more or less as "under a rain of small yellow flowers"). The video is a fairly original. Roxy FM organizes indeed "the smallest concerts in the world."  The public is composed of 10 persons, not more, in a very intimate place.  For Myslovitz, it was an old flat, with high ceiling, molding and trim. Well, very cracovian atmosphere (even if it seems to me that the concert was played in Warsaw: op)... For this song, the group has as guest Marie Peszek, Polish artist.
